2007 International Convention held in Malta From the 5th to 11th November

Happy Holidays! Greetings to all of you!!

2007 was again a very interesting Convention in the very special and Cultural Island of Malta where The Members of the Constantinian Order of St. Georges and the Order of the Cross of Constantinople, The Grand Sovereign Dynastic Hospitaller Order of Saint John Knights of Malta stayed during almost a week.

All the Members arriving from Costa Rica, USA, United Kingdom, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Thailand, France and Monaco met again with the usual friendship and welcomed the new Members.

During the stay, they visited Valetta (Capital City) where the Members and Guests visited Barakka Gardens, the Museum of Fine Arts and the St. John’s Cathedral Museum and later they met for lunch, in the famous private Club Casino Maltese.

The day after everybody visited the sister Island Gozo admiring with real emotion the GGANTIJA MEGALITHIC TEMPLES and the miraculous TA-PINU CHURCH. At lunchtime, they met in a very special Gozitan restaurant.

The most exciting and our favourite is always Mdina (old Capital) where after the visit of the Palazzo Falzon, which just opened few months ago, we could listen to a very special music.  Thanks to Chev. Demajo, who asked the young men in charge, to give us a souvenir of this Venetian Middle age music. Through the unique typical Mdina Street, we went to visit the Domus Romanum where some of our Malta Members did show us the grave of their Ancestors.

The most important and touching was the Ceremony in the very new Chapel of the LITTLE SISTERS OF THE POOR, one of the beneficiaries of our Orders. We were all emotional to admire what the Little Sisters have been able to build using with prudence and parsimony the modest finance of which they dispose thanks to the prestige of Mother Paul Mamo, their Mother Superior of whom all who have the joy to meet her know the admirable qualities. In fact, the new Chapel is a real home for the people who suffer and to whom the Little Sisters give the love of a real Family.

Prince Henri and Princess Francoise celebrated the Investiture of the new Members  assisted by the Reverend Chaplain, by Mother  Superior Paul Mamo, Sir Joseph Bonnici  Grand Collier and Grand International Chancellor, Lady Olga Bonnici,  Lady Commander Arlene Kieta representing also the New York Chapter, Five Stars General Kerdphol, Marquise  Eva  Maria  degli  Albizi, the Baron Grand Cross Joseph Camilleri, Comm. Sullivan and his Spouse, Chev. Anthony Demajo, who was the Flag Bearer  and  Baron Jacques Faure Arsac Chazal de Mauriac, Dame Patricia and  Sir John Glasswell  OSP, Sir Wim Pichal, Head of the Spanish Commandery ,and Lady Sorina, dr. Sir Walter Jaspers , Head of the Mechelen Commandery with Lady Lieve  to whom we owe  important  books about  the  Order and  the Belgian Chapter and the new Member Lady Lynn Bolln Lipman  who  is a very active Member of NOW National Organization for Women, the SPCA where she fund a campaign  to raise awareness of the plight of neglected animals etches., Chev. Grand Cross Roger Castillo was a perfect Master of our Ceremony and Chev. Philip Ransley, the admirable organizer of our Official Website did again help everybody.

The C.V. of our new Brothers and Sisters proved once again the high qualities and merits of the  persons who are admitted into our Orders. We would like to thank and congratulate Baron Grand Cross Dr. Joseph A. Camilleri for the very interesting book “A tale of Byzantium “, Dame Irmgard Staebler our  very active Press Attaché, Lady Helga Fullenbach, Chev. Huhn and Mrs. Roswita  , Dame  Brigitte  Ernst  to whom, together  with  her late Husband Chev. Wolfgang, our late Delegate S.D. Erbprinz Furstenberg and our late Chancellor Baron Moll whom we owe the great success of our German Association with our world known Imperial Byzantine Charity Balls.

We were all very happy to welcome the President of our Imperial Senate, Member of the Grand Magistry H.Exc. Count George Wentworth and his Spouse Countess Mary Ann whose appearance remembered all of us their wonderful activities and the foundation of the U.S. Chapter of our Orders.

At the end of the Ceremony Lady Grace Carvajal Lizano, former Consul General of Costa Rica and one of the most important personalities of that Country in the USA and other States , introduced to us Mrs. Antje Farber and other personalities with whom we attended the very elegant Gala Dinner and Ball at the five star MERIDIAN Hotel in St. Julian .

Donations where raised through activities organized by Members of the Order and their Guests. During the Dinner, a Toast was made to Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip who were visiting Malta at the same time. – Prince Henri paid tribute to His Excellency the President of the Republic of Malta, His Excellency The President of Malta, His Excellency the Foreign Minister and all the  People  of the noble Island of Malta. It was late, very late when the lights went out in the Ball Room but was not yet the end of this glorious and most auspicious Convention!

We had more cocktail parties ,lunches, dinners, invitations and everyone was sad to leave the Island of Malta but anyway it was certainly not an “adieu” but just an “au revoir” !
